Hey Guys!

I won’t spend an incredibly long time introducing myself since I have already met all of you on the trip and everyone else reading this probably already knows me, but here goes…

My name is Kyle Blount, and I live in Austin, Texas.  I am eighteen years old (for three more weeks-until September 1) and I graduated from Hyde Park Baptist High School this past May where I was involved in  the Austin Christian Leadership Academy, Science Olympiad, Choir, Drama, and Swimming (I’m sure I forgot something- sorry).

I was the Salutatorian and a National Merit Scholar and planning on entering Texas A&M University this fall.  In fact, I already had my class schedule and roommate assignment, but God changed those plans pretty quickly.  Participating in this trip certainly breaks the status quo for the environment that I’ve grown up in, as you can probably tell, but I’m so excited that God has made this His plan for me for the next year!  I wouldn’t have it any other way.

I have spent the majority of the past three summers working at Wind River Ranch in Estes Park, CO.  I’ve had a great time, made many friends, and grown enormously in my spiritual life while working there.

I think I’m a pretty normal American teenager in terms of my interests.  I do like to study, which I suppose isn’t that normal, but I love learning new things.  I love reading as well (I just don’t have that much time to do it!)  Other than that, I love hanging out with friends, listening to music, and watching Psych, Bones, NCIS, and/or Law & Order. But more than any of these things, I love going to get coffee, hang out, and just talking about Jesus.

I suppose that’s a natural lead-in to this:  I love Jesus more than anything else in the world, and that’s the truth.  I know that a lot of people say things like that, but I mean it.  My Savior died for me, and I would do the same for Him.  I suppose it’s appropriate for me to close with my life verse and something that I pray every day.  “I eagerly expect and hope that I will in no way be ashamed, but will have sufficient courage so that now as always Christ will be exalted in my body, whether by life or by death.”  Philippians 1:20

In Him,

Kyle
